How can we work through a development cycle as a team?
Working through a development cycle as a team can make the process more effective and engaging. Effective social support is a strong driver of teacher learning, so we recommend creating regular opportunities for small groups to work together at every stage of the cycle. This helps provide both support and constructive challenge throughout the process.
To support this, the Great Teaching Toolkit includes a dedicated Teams area where you can organise collaboration. Within this space, you can schedule meetings, share resources, and set clear agendas. You’ll also find ready-to-use slides and facilitator notes for each stage of the development cycle.
The meeting templates and facilitator notes are designed to keep discussions focused and purposeful. They include prompts for reflection and professional challenge, highlight key decisions to ensure clarity on next steps, and encourage all team members to commit to specific actions. This structure helps teams stay accountable, even when individuals are working on different goals.
To access these resources, go to the ‘Great Teaching Teams’ section of the platform. Once you’ve set up a meeting, select “Add agenda” and choose the relevant phase of the development cycle to get started.
