What is a development cycle?

The Great Teaching Toolkit development cycle is a four-part, iterative process designed to support personalised professional learning. It is based on what the best available evidence tells us about effective teacher development. The development cycle supports teachers to set meaningful goals based on feedback, build their understanding, develop new skills and change classroom habits for the better.

The development cycles page within the platform guides teachers through a professional learning cycle, directing them to features in the platform at times when they are most likely to be helpful, and providing a personalised workspace to record and reflect on professional development.

School coordinators have access to information about the types of activity teachers have engaged with (e.g., courses, surveys and goals) but the rest of the activity within the development cycle, including feedback data, is private and can only be seen by individual teachers, unless they choose to share it.
