A Great Teaching Lead is a member of a Great Teaching Team who takes responsibility for helping the team make effective use of its shared space and supporting colleagues' professional development.
The role is particularly useful for helping middle leaders, such as heads of department or phase leads, to support the development of their teams.
Great Teaching Leads can:
- manage the teams they belong to
- manage team membership and setup
- notify team members
- archive and restore teams
- appoint additional Great Teaching Leads
- view connected development cycles
- use information about colleagues' development to support useful professional conversations.
Great Teaching Leads also have access to the Leading Great Teaching page, where they can access a variety of support materials include ready-to-use sessions, implementation advice and facilitator notes and slides for team meetings.
Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators can see which of their team has already been tagged as a Great Teaching Lead by visiting the ‘School Management’ tab. Then selecting ‘Teacher accounts’ and scrolling down to look for the Great Teaching Lead Badge. You can also set up new Great Teaching Leads by finding the specific teacher in the list on this page, selecting the three dots next to their name and choosing ‘Tag as Great Teaching Lead’. You can remove this label and its associated access in the same way.
