# What will I do in the ‘Explore’ phase?

*The Great Teaching Toolkit development cycle is a three-stage, evidence-informed process that supports personalised professional development by helping teachers set goals, build understanding, develop skills, and reflect on changes in their practice. It is a personal space for teachers to record and reflect on their own professional development, and the content can only be viewed by the teacher, unless they choose to share it.*

In the second phase of the development cycle, you'll build your **knowledge and understanding** to support your goal. Using curated GTT resources, you will:

- Engage with **courses**, **research**, **and professional reading**
- Explore **evidence-informed teaching techniques**
- **Reflect** on your learning so far
- Identify **practical next steps**

You can use the **learning log** icon to capture reflections and record next steps based on what you have learnt. You'll be able to come back to these at any time as you **review** your progress.

After selecting a technique to implement in your classroom, you’ll move on to the ‘Develop expertise’ phase, but you can always return to this page to access your learning materials and explore further.
