How do I use the Lesson Recording tool?
t’s designed to be simple and flexible.
You and your ECT can securely record a lesson using any device with a camera, microphone and internet connection. This includes personal devices as recordings are never stored locally on the device.
If your ECT shares a recording with you, you can watch it within the tool and write notes as you watch. If helpful, you can then copy these notes into your usual Mentor Meeting proforma to support your regular feedback discussions.
Your recordings are not shared directly with your ECT within the tool, but you can choose to show and discuss them during in-person mentor meetings where helpful.
The steps below show the basic flow for reviewing ECT recordings. You:
- log into Prism
- navigate to the ‘Lesson Recording’ tab from the main menu and complete multi-factor authentication
- watch recordings your ECT has shared with you and write notes within the tool while watching
- copy your notes into your usual mentor meeting proforma
The tool does not replace in-person drop-ins. It is designed to complement them.
To record your own lessons to model effective practice, you:
- click “New recording”, enter lesson details
- place the device at the front of the classroom, focused on you
- start recording
You can watch the video tutorial or read the user guide for the full process step by step.
