How does the recording tool work?
It’s designed to be simple and flexible. ECTs and mentors can securely record a lesson using any device with a camera, microphone and internet connection. This includes personal devices as recordings are never stored locally on the device.
This video demo shows how the tool works for ECTs and mentors.
The steps below show the basic flow for ECTs. They:
- log into Prism
- navigate to the ‘Lesson Recording’ tab from the main menu and complete multi-factor authentication
- click ‘New recording’, enter class details and review sharing preferences
- place the device at the front of the classroom, focused on them
- start recording
ECTs can then watch the recording back. And if shared, mentors can watch it in their own time, write notes, and use it to support focused mentor conversations in regular mentor meetings.
The tool does not replace in‑person drop-ins, it’s designed to complement them.
