How often should ECTs and mentors use it?

Only as much as it’s helpful.

As a guide, recordings can be used to alternate with in‑person drop-ins, in line with the normal mentoring cycle. For example:

  • ECT Year 1: fortnightly
  • ECT Year 2: monthly

For ECTs’ own reflection, they can use the tool as often as they find useful.

Mentors can also decide how often they record their own lessons to model effective practice to their ECT. For example, they may use it weekly to model effective implementation of the current action step the ECT is focused on so that they can see it in practice.
