How is pupil data protected?

Pupil data is handled carefully and with safeguards in place. This means: 

• teachers are asked to position the device to avoid capturing pupils’ faces;

• recordings are only used for research if there are no pupil opt-outs in that class;

• any transcripts used for research have names and other identifying details removed;

• recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days;

• teachers can delete a recording immediately after they stop recording, before it is uploaded, if something sensitive is captured (for example, confidential information or pupils coming into view).
