What do all the terms mean in the GTT?

Here you will find a short glossary for some of the key terms you will find in the Great Teaching Toolkit.

Great Teaching Coordinator - the person leading the implementation of the GTT in a school, college or organisation.

Great Teaching Advisor - the EBE team member who is allocated to support each Great Teaching Coordinator. You may be in regular contact with this person, or you may just speak to them once in a while, but they're there to help you!

Great Teaching Lead - people within a school or college who are allocated by the Great Teaching Coordinator as being "leads". They are able to set up and manage Great Teaching Teams - small groups of staff who might be organised by subject, stage or department, or who might be organised according to which element they are working on.

Development strategies -  non-subject- or phase-specific teaching strategies which can be adapted and adopted by teachers in their own context. You will encounter plenty of these in the GTT Courses!

Development focus - aims and targets, set by individual teachers, under which one or more development strategies might sit.

GTT Profile - each teacher on the platform will generate their own GTT Profile by the use of the feedback tools. This will give an indication of which Elements of Great Teaching are relative areas of strength, and likewise for improvement. It is private to each teacher, unless they choose to share it.

Feedback tools - the tools, surveys and instruments that help to give teachers actionable insight on their practice in relation to the Elements of Great Teaching.
