What will I do in the ‘Set a goal’ phase?
The Great Teaching Toolkit development cycle is a four-stage, evidence-informed process that supports personalised professional development by helping teachers set goals, build understanding, develop skills, and reflect on changes in their practice. It is a personal space for teachers to record and reflect on their own professional development, and the content can only be viewed by the teacher, unless they choose to share it.
The cycle begins with identifying a focused, personalised professional learning goal. This is informed by multiple sources of feedback and grounded in your teaching context. At this stage, you will:
- Draw on self-reflection, video feedback and, peer and student surveys to build a picture of your current practice
- Define a clear, meaningful goal
- Consider what success will look like in your classroom
After setting a goal, you’ll move on to the ‘Explore’ phase, but you can always return to this page to collect more feedback, or refine your goal and success indicators.
